Mare Island, some abandonded factories, and site overhauls.

Mare Island….. Is a wonderful place. Words cannot even begin to describe this place, and the feelings I have when I’m there. Each time I discover something new and different, and there’s always stuff to explore. I recently went alone. My regular shooting buddy was missing in action. When I first arrived I missed my normal turn down railroad st.  and ended up passing by an abandoned hotel I’ve never noticed before. So of course curiosity got the better of me and I went exploring. At first it didn’t really seem like many just stacks and stacks of small rooms then I found the lobby building. Great discovery! Anyway I didn’t snap any hipstaprints on this trip I had dropped my iPod earlier that week on another photo outing to Treasure Island and the screen shattered. Of course I went to all my usual places on the island I always have to visit the shoreline heritage nature preserve it offers great info on the island amazing views and some interesting surprises. Along the path that leads to the top you find an old cemetery with some well known resident among them the daughter of Francis Scott Key the writer of our national anthem.  All and all was a great trip. In other news this month’s theme for me seems to be abandoned places which I love exploring and shooting. In the last few weeks I’ve been to a lot of batteries scattered about. (But I go to these a lot so does it really count?) I’ve been to some abandoned places on treasure and mare islands and I went on my first trip to the dog patch on the waterfront and got to walk amongst a bunch of old factories there. I’ve been shooting more than ever lately and I really feel like I’m starting to develop my own style and I feel like my work is getting better so I plan to start to overhaul the site soon. I want to take down some work that I put up when I first started the site just to have some stuff up with things I find to be of much better quality. Anyway thanks for listening to the rants again and enjoy some lovely hipstaprints of dinosaurs and various things from recent adventures.
